Lovely RDA....Pic from

Happily married, with 2 gorgeous, inevitably exasperating kids, and one crazy dog.

Live in a sleepy village not far from Oxford. Used to live in the city of dreaming spires, but moved out over 3 years ago, to a place of semi-tranquillity.

I work from home, copy-editing and proof-reading scientific, technical and medical books and journals. And no, I don’t want to know if there are spelling or grammatical mistakes in my journal! I don’t get paid to write it, so I’m not going to spell-check it!

I enjoy working and playing on the computer - at the moment I’m completely addicted to Runescape, play every day. I also enjoy reading - some friends and I have formed our own little reading group, and it’s forcing me to read things I wouldn’t normally have picked up. And that’s a GOOD thing.

I love watching all sorts of sci-fi, especially Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis - the list is just too long. I've recently started going to Stargate conventions, with my best friend Sue, who has been into Star Trek for decades.

I love making lace, although I’m not a lacey sort of person, so I don’t wear any of the stuff I make. I mostly make mats, bookmarks, table centres. I also enjoy lots of different sorts of needlework. Especially Hardanger, cross stitch and needlepoint.

To stop my arse getting enormous from all the sitting around when I’m working, playing or sewing, I do Taekwondo twice a week. Just the sort of thing you’re supposed to take up when you’re 35 (!). Anyway, I should be doing my black belt later this year, although I don’t think I’ll ever feel ready for it... just done my black belt (April 2007)!! Go meeeee!

I have a sister who's a singer/songwriter, who should be a megastar already, but has decided not to sell her soul to the big record companies, so remains independent for now. Check out! She's now in a band called Sharks Took The Rest, who have a steady following in the northeast of England. They've recently appeared on BBC Radio 2 and Radio 4. Woohoo! I also have a brother, whom I never see, coz he's hopeless at staying in touch, just like my dad!

Like many people I suppose, sometimes I'm high, sometimes low. Most of the time I'm on an even keel. I had a bad dose of PND after my daughter was born, so I know how it feels to wake up and not cope, with anything. Some days you just feel like you're not connected to the world, you know - on the outside looking in? Nowadays I'm better (I think! You tell me! Or ask my kids!), but I can get thoughtful and riddled with self-doubt. Doesn't everybody go through stages like this?

I try to respect other people's politics and religious beliefs. Personally I hate politics - all politicians should be shot! - and I'm a Christian at heart, but don't practise organised religion very often. I know what I believe and I don't often talk about it.

I like to think I'm open-minded, and I'm not easily offended if anybody's opinion is different from mine. On an off day I can be overly sensitive though. Quite often I can see both sides of an argument. Which is exasperating to other people, I'm sure. Comes from being a Gemini, maybe? Schizo!

As an old gal, I don't feel I'd have that much in common with people under 21 or thereabouts, so please don't be offended if I don't friend you...

I'm newish to all this online journal stuff, so you all will have to bear with me about that...

I'm the moderator of a little community called learn4life. It's for posting all those little chunks of useless information that we pick up. Take a look!

Oh, if I didn’t need sleep, I’d get so much more done.
