Name:toadflax234
Birthdate:Jun 18
Happily married, with 2 gorgeous, inevitably exasperating grown-up kids, and two crazy dogs.

Live in a sleepy village not far from Oxford. Used to live in the city of dreaming spires, but moved out in 2002, to a place of semi-tranquillity.

I used work from home, copy-editing and proof-reading scientific, technical and medical books and journals. Now I still do a little freelance, but I work full time at the University of Oxford in the finance administration.

I enjoy working and playing on the computer - I occasionally play Runescape, not as much as I did. Mostly these days I enjoy tabletop gaming - modern board games. I run my own gaming group - mostly my friends whom I've converted. We meet at least twice a month and we love it.

I love watching all sorts of sci-fi - currently Stranger Things - the list is just too long. I enjoy going to scifi conventions, with my best friend Sue, who has been into Star Trek for decades.

I love making lace, although I’m not a lacey sort of person, so I don’t wear any of the stuff I make. I mostly make mats, bookmarks, table centres. I also enjoy lots of different sorts of needlework. Especially Hardanger, cross stitch and needlepoint.

I used to practise Taekwondo twice a week. I got my black belt aged 41. Sadly, real life got in the way and I had to stop. I need to find something else to keep me fit. I enjoy ballroom & latin dance classes, but that's not really enough...

I have a sister who's a singer/songwriter, who should be a megastar already, but has decided not to sell her soul to the big record companies, so remains independent for now. Check out https://beccyowen.bandcamp.com/! She's now in a band called Joy Atlas, who have a steady following in the northeast of England. She used to be in a band called Sharks Took The Rest. I also have a brother, who is an awesome windsurfer.

Like many people I suppose, sometimes I'm high, sometimes low. Most of the time I'm on an even keel. I had a bad dose of PND after my daughter was born, so I know how it feels to wake up and not cope, with anything. Some days you just feel like you're not connected to the world, you know - on the outside looking in? Nowadays I'm better (I think! You tell me! Or ask my kids!), but I can get thoughtful and riddled with self-doubt. Doesn't everybody go through stages like this?

I try to respect other people's politics and religious beliefs. Personally I hate politics - all politicians should be shot! - and I'm a Christian at heart, but don't practise organised religion very often. I know what I believe and I don't often talk about it.

I like to think I'm open-minded, and I'm not easily offended if anybody's opinion is different from mine. On an off day I can be overly sensitive though. Quite often I can see both sides of an argument. Which is exasperating to other people, I'm sure. Comes from being a Gemini, maybe? Schizo!

As an old gal, I don't feel I'd have that much in common with people under 21 or thereabouts, so please don't be offended if I don't friend you...

I don't post as much as I should. Which is a shame. Facebook seems easier, but it's a lot shallower.

I'm the moderator of a little community called learn4life. It's for posting all those little chunks of useless information that we pick up. Take a look!

Oh, if I didn’t need sleep, I’d get so much more done.
